Thanks to Ladies Captain Carole Alder for the very colourful picture below.

The Brighton and Hove District League campaign ended with a flourish.
We won three of the last four matches to end in mid-table.
Well Done!!
Now we have to decide what kind of league we want next season.
--------------------------
And now the Meridian League is added to the list. What a season!!

=====================
 THE CHELSEA PENSIONERS  VISITED US
ON WEDNESDAY 17
th MAY 2017.
It was a great honour for the club to host a visit from these retired veteran Soldiers of the Queen.
They were surprisingly sprightly and happy individuals who really were an enormous pleasure to be with.
We now look forward to our return visit this time next year.
The Club is indebted to Phil and Margaret Armstrong whose efforts and attention to detail ensured a smooth and
faultless event. And as always to our willing workers Norma, Jill, Linda, Martin, Lesley and all the rest.
And not forgetting our Captain for the Day, Carole Alder.
What follows are a few of the large number of photos. Please let me know if you want copies.
The specially made wheelchairs are made by Bradshaws Buggies and Guiseley Mobility.
Our grants of £9,754 and £2,200 from Sport England and the House Project respectively
enabled us to purchase two which we can now offer for the use of  wheelchair users who
would like to take up bowls in Peacehaven and Telscombe. Please contact us if at all interested.

Sport England Lottery Award of £9,754
Once again Fortune has smiled on us.
Our application for funds to purchase bowling equipment for the disabled has been approved.
When we complete the access route, with the new disabled toilet facility we will be
fully equiped to enable those who require a wheelchair to participate fully in our sport.
The award has also enabled us to purchase a second Short Mat and Bowling Arms.
We are equally grateful to the House Project Centre whose generous donation of £2,200 combined
with the above award has enabled us to provide two fully motorised wheelchairs for use on the green.

The disabled toilet facility within our pavilion has now been completed
thanks to the unstinting efforts of
Ray Hillman, Peter Herman, Ron Walsh and chairman Ted Giles.
Their dedication to helping us make our club one of the best has also enabled us
to complete these works on time and within the budget of £1,500 provided by the
Bruce Wake Charitable Trust.

On Thursday 15th September we were visited by a Bowls England
representative team to mark the completion of our Pavilion Extension
and our Viewing Terrace.
As usual the sun shone on a memorable event enjoyed by all who were lucky enough to be there. The end result was a narrow win by just three shots for the BE Squad
led by

2016 BE President Michael Jennings.
We are indebted to Ross Clifton of Bexhill BC for his help in organising this event.

On Wednesday 18th May we welcomed the Sussex County Executive
who came to sample the delights of our spacious pavilion
and excellent bowling green.
The rain cleared and the sun shone on us as we all enjoyed a
light hearted but competitive match, followed by a sumptuous dinner.
The pictures below convey something of the relaxed enjoyment shared by all.

On Wednesday 15th April 2015 we were honoured by the visit of
HRH Prince Richard, the Duke of Gloucester
who came to Peacehaven to officially open our beautiful Big Park.
Three members of our Management team were among those invited to attend his welcome
by Peacehaven Town Council. The sun shone on the warmest day of the year to date.
Our Council Organiser Deborah Donovan can be justly proud of a job well done.

     HRH1          HRH2
HRH, intrigued by the prospect of a legless Sussex Martlett, suggests most bowlers are frequently similar.
We denied it, of course.

APART FROM THE MANY MEMBERS WHO WROTE IN WE RECEIVED LETTERS FROM

BOWLS ENGLAND, SUSSEX COUNTY BOWLS, OUR MP SIMON KIRBY, PCS AND OTHERS.

BUT WE ALSO NEED SUPPORT FROM THE PEACEHAVEN COMMUNITY AT LARGE.
IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO PARTICIPATE IN THESE ACTIVITIES PLEASE TELL US

email to:- leachf@cldmail.co.uk  .

WE WOULD LOVE TO CONVINCE LOCAL FAMILIES THAT BOWLS IS A SPORT THAT ALL
FROM 8 TO 90+ CAN PLAY AND ENJOY.
IT IS THE LOSS OF THE MAJORITY THAT BOWLS IS REGARDED AS AN OLD PERSONS GAME.
RATHER, IT IS A GAME OLD PEOPLE CAN STILL PLAY.
BUT IT IS ESSENTIALLY A GAME EVERYONE CAN PLAY.
CASUALLY OR COMPETITIVELY. THE CHOICE IS YOURS TO MAKE.
SO COME AND GIVE IT AND YOURSELF A CHANCE
.
--------------------------------
We
have again been asked to stage the Sussex County Under 18s Mixed Finals this season.
Unfortunately we are unable to meet the date requested due to earlier committments.
However we hope to host this great event next season, 2018.
.
